We returned to the Newtown Creek area to tackle the dirty dead-ends that line the waterfront. These areas currently act as safe havens for illegal dumping because of the lack of foot traffic and surrounding industrial land uses. Volunteers of all ages were up to the task of picking up this unusually heavy garbage! We were very thankful to the great team at the Newtown Creek Alliance for working with us and educating our group on the health and safety of Greenpoint’s amazing natural asset.
